Kenneth Young

Ken Young, a self-taught artist, has been sketching and drawing with pencil and pen and ink from a very young age. Born in Charleston South Carolina his family shortly migrated to Kingston New York then to Hudson in 1963. He progressed in skill when his mother purchased a correspondence course with Art Instruction Schools, Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was introduced to oil in high school in 1971 and became fascinated with accurately trying to render the textures, light and shadow found in nature. Since then oil has been his favorite medium. At first his aim was to come as close as possible to accurately rendering the subjects he painted.
