Back in August of 2012, my friend Tom Polapink tipped me off that the Olde Rhinebeck Aerodrome was offering artist�s and photographers free admission for one weekend to take pictures, sketch or paint from the airplanes of this amazing museum where history comes to life. Having seen the show there many times, and being a lover of aviation, I couldn�t pass up the opportunity. Well, I think you can see why. Here is the results. Some of the aircraft here go back to aviation�s golden age before WWI and Olde Rhinebeck may be the only place in the world where you can actually see them fly.

Ken Young, a self-taught artist, has been sketching and drawing with pencil and pen and ink from a very young age. Born in Charleston South Carolina his family shortly migrated to Kingston New York then to Hudson in 1963. He progressed in skill when his mother purchased a correspondence course with Art Instruction Schools, Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was introduced to oil in high school in 1971 and became fascinated with accurately trying to render the textures, light and shadow found in nature. Since then oil has been his favorite medium.
